Easter Sunday 2015

We hope you had a wonderful Easter (if you celebrate) yesterday!   We had a great Easter.  It felt like it went by way too fast though! This year we spent Easter Sunday with our immediate family and boyfriends.

Easter

We had a sleepover the night before at Michelle’s house, so we started off the day by making breakfast that consisted of bacon and omelettes.  After breakfast we got ready for the day and then went to the Easter service at our church. Our Easter get together this year was laid back, which was perfect.  We had a delicious lunch that made us pretty full afterwards since there was so much good food!  After lunch, our nephew went on an Easter egg hunt and we just hung out before having dessert.  Cheesecake and cupcakes were on the menu for dessert, which are two of our favorites!  We ended the day with some four wheeling and walking in the woods.

Our Weekend Getaway in NYC: Day 2!

Saturday was our one full day in New York City so we packed quite a bit into this day! Here’s a look at our outfits for the day!

We started the day off with a continental breakfast at our hotel and then we hit Times Square again to do a little more shopping and walk around.  Of course we had to go to Sephora and stock up on some beauty goodies.  If you haven’t been to the Sephora in Times Square we highly suggest you go there if you’re ever in the area because it is HUGE!  It’s definitely one of the biggest Sephora’s we’ve been to before.  After Sephora, we headed to M&M World.  We got some m&m’s and some other little souvenirs there.

By the time we were done shopping and walking around Times Square, we were definitely ready to eat lunch.  We met up with one of our older sister’s friends and her family at a pizzeria.  The building that the pizzeria was in was really cool since it had been a church before.  Our lunch consisted of New York Style pizza and Sangria to go along with it!  Both the pizza and Sangria were absolutely delicious!

It was then time to head to our second Broadway show.  We went to a 2 o’clock matinee of The Book of Mormon.  We had been hearing such great things about The Book of Mormon that we were both really excited for this musical.  It definitely didn’t disappoint! It was funny, inappropriate, and just so so good! The acting and singing were phenomenal to say the least!  We highly recommend it.

After the musical, we quickly headed back to our hotel for just a few minutes and then we took a cab to see The Empire State Building.  We purchased our tickets online before our trip and we also paid a bit more so we didn’t have to wait in any of the lines on the way up.  We were really glad we paid more because it was so nice not having to wait in all of the lines.  It made things much easier and quicker!  Once we made it to the Observatory Deck, we were finally able to see the beautiful views of New York City.  We were really happy with the time we chose to go because it was right before sunset so we were able to see the views both when it was light and dark.  Before leaving The Empire State Building, we also stopped at the gift shop and bought a few souvenirs.

We then headed back to our hotel again to figure out the plan for our night.  We decided to go an Italian restaurant right in Times Square called Tony’s since it was close.  Our older sister had also eaten there before and really liked it.  When we got to the restaurant we were told it was going to be around a 45 minute to one hour wait, so we just shopped around Times Square a bit more to pass the time.  It was definitely worth the wait!  We enjoyed a lovely meal that included two different kinds of pasta that we all shared, bread, wine, and sangria!  Needless to say, we were very full afterwards!

We originally had planned on getting a drink afterwards, but after our whirlwind of a day we were all pretty tired.  We decided to head back to our hotel to pack and just hang out for a quiet night.  Luckily Pitch Perfect was on so we watched that while packing and eating some delicious New York Style cheesecake from Juniors.

That basically wraps up our New York City weekend getaway!  We had a blast and can’t wait until we can go back again in the future.  We hope you have enjoyed our New York City posts and videos!  If you’ve been to New York City before, comment below and let us know what your favorite things were that you did there.   If you haven’t been to New York City before,  comment below and let us know what you want to see/do the most if/when you go to New York City.

Our Weekend Getaway in NYC: Day 1!

If you’ve been keeping up with our blog recently, then you know that we went to New York City last weekend with our mom and older sister.  We really enjoyed our time there and want to share with you in a bit more detail what we did!

We arrived in New York City on Friday afternoon.  By the time we got to our hotel and checked in, it was around 3 o’clock.  The hotel we stayed at had a really nice location.  It was a block away from Times Square and very close to the Theater District.  Since we hadn’t ate anything since breakfast, we were starving so we  wandered around the area of our hotel in search for some food.  We decided to eat at Shake Shack since it was very close  to our hotel and it’s very well known.  who doesn’t love a good burger, fries, and a shake?

After eating, we did some exploring and got tickets for our Broadway show that night.  We then headed to Times Square and of course had to take some typical tourist photos while we were there.  We also did some shopping at Express and found some great spring items there!

Once we were done shopping, it was time for us to head back to our hotel to get ready for the Broadway show.

The show we decided to see that night was Matilda.  We absolutely loved it.  It was very cute and funny.  The actors all did a really good job at playing their characters.  If you’re a fan of the Matilda movie or book, you would definitely love the musical as well!

By the time we got back to our hotel it was close to 11 o’clock so Rachel and I just went out for a quick drink before turning in for the night.

A recap of Day 2 will be going up tomorrow so be on the lookout for that!

Ulta Haul!

Yesterday with it being Presidents’ Day,  I was lucky enough to have the day off from work since I’m a teacher.  My mom and I decided to go on a quick shopping trip to a city 50 minutes away from us so we could go to a couple of our favorite stores there.  We ended up going to Gordman’s, which is like a TJ Maxx, and Ulta.  I love both of these stores, but unfortunately they’re 50 minutes away, so I don’t get to them as much as I would like.

Since I hadn’t been to Ulta since October and I also had a gift card from Christmas, I figured I would probably get a lot.  I may have ended up getting even more than I expected though.  There were just too many things that I had been wanting, as well as some great new products out!  Since I got so much from Ulta, I thought it would be fun to do a haul and share with you all of the things I got!

Winter Nail Polish Go-to’s

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I absolutely love nail polish and that I may be a bit (okay, more like really) addicted to it.  What can I say, I just really love nail polish and having a lot of color options for painting my nails.  You will rarely see me without my nails painted.

Since I love nail polish so much and am  always painting my nails, I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my top favorite nail polishes.  I have a lot of favorites though, so I thought it would be best to share my favorites with you each season or maybe sometimes a random month even.  With winter wrapping up, let’s get into which nail polishes have been my go-to’s this season!

When looking through my collection for my top winter nail polishes for this post, I asked myself two questions.  Did I love this polish when I wore it this season? Have I worn this polish more than once this season?  Clearly if I knew instantly that I loved the polish when I wore it, it was a favorite.  Also, if I wore the polish more than once, chances are it’s a favorite as well because I usually don’t paint my nails the same color over and over in a short amount of time unless I truly love it.

Pictured below are my top favorite Winter nail polishes:

nail polish

  1. After School Boy Blazer (Essie)– This color is a very dark navy.  It almost looks black if you just glance at it.  I really like wearing darker nail polishes in the winter.  I just bought this color towards the beginning of winter and I’m definitely glad I did!
  2. Red My Fortune Cookie (OPI)– This is a bright, classic red color.  I wear red polish pretty much all year round, but this was another polish I bought just this past fall and have found myself reaching for a lot this winter.
  3. Keep Me on My Mistletoes (Sephora by OPI)-  I’ve had this color for quite a few years and hadn’t reached for it in awhile until this winter.  I was in the mood for a gold polish one day and decided to paint my nails this color.  After painting my nails, I wondered why I hadn’t been giving this color much love because it is such a pretty shimmery gold!  I have painted my nails this color multiple times and each time I have gotten a lot of compliments on it.  And now after talking about this color, I want to paint my nails this color again!
  4. Just a Little Dangerous (Sephora by OPI)–  This is another color that I hadn’t been giving much love to, but fell back in love with.  Just a Little Dangerous is a very dark shimmery purple color.  Like Essie’s After School Boy Blazer, it looks almost black until you look more closely at it.
  5. Sable Collar (Essie)–  I’m not even sure how to describe this color because it looks different depending on the lighting.  I do know that it’s a gorgeous neutral color though with shimmer!  Ever since I bought it last winter, it’s been one of my favorites to wear during the winter season!

As you can probably guess, two of my favorite nail polish brands are Essie and OPI.  I also have a few other favorite brands that I will be sharing with you in future nail polish posts.  If you would be interested in seeing my full nail polish collection, I would love to share it with you!  What are your winter go-to nail polishes during the winter months?  I’m always looking for new nail polishes to try so let me know in the comments below!
